OUR HISTORY
Cardiff Galvanizers (1969) Ltd, was acquired on the 27th October 1969. Its new owners were the late David Evans and Thomas Carter, and the present chairman Hayden John. All three were time served Engineering Apprentices. Thomas Carter and Hayden John had also seen a career as sea-going Chief Engineers. Though the company name may have been new in 1969 its origins go back a little further. The firms original activity was the manufacturing and galvanizing of an in-house product.
This product, "The Cox's Hatchcover Band" (as can be seen in the photograph opposite), was widely used in the shipping industry. The galvanized bands were used to protect the ends of timber hatch covers from handling damage.
The company held a world wide patent on this product for many years. The galvanizing bath in those early days was coke fired and had a dimension of only 3ft x 2xt 6in x 2ft 6in. But during the past 50 years the company has gone through many stages of change, and currently has one of the most modern galvanizing facilities in the United Kingdom.
A subsidiary company of Cardiff Galvanizers Ltd, Galvablast (1969) Ltd, was formed in 1995 to offer a more complete solution to the requirements of protective coatings.
OUR STORY CONTINUES
Since the incorporation of Galvablast Ltd back in 1995 the focus of our company’s promotion of steel protective coating has changed.
The company now promotes itself as a specialised protective coating business offering a wide range of various metal protection.
This is to meet with the different life expectancy associated with the environmental conditions to which the products are subjected to.
Also, Architects & Specifiers are often requesting a protective coating that will give a far greater cosmetic appearance enabling it to blend in with its surrounding landscape more pleasingly.
From our early days of being predominantly a parish galvanizer our customer base has widened considerably throughout Wales and the South of England.
We now operate a wide fleet of vehicles from 24 tonne articulate tractor units down to the more conventional rigid side bed lorries.
Our emphasis is to give our customers the very best service possible, meeting quality and turnaround times to suit their needs.
Whilst focusing on our customers’ requirements we are constantly investing in our environmental obligations and our commitment to the ever changing Health & Safety regulations to ensure the very best working practices and working conditions for our work force.
